I need advice and a few links if possible.

I'm going to form a biz

this one biz will be an LLC and under that biz I will run several sites.

1 biz

5 or more websites.

The main biz is of course the LLC the other websites are just brands that are create by the biz and websites run by the biz. My question is can this be done and do you see any legal hurdles.

What do you actually do with the other 5 brands? Is this what you are saying:

1 domain which is your main biz LLC
5 different domains under your main biz LLC

If that is correct then, I don't see any hurdles there as long as you dont have any duplicate content from the 6 domains you have..

Yes that's exactly what I am saying. I was just concerned that I would have to incorporate which would be more of a headache. LLC would simplify things more but still give me the protection as business that I need. Plus I didn't want to turn every site into an LLC since the fee for each LLC would be $800 a year.

I was referring to the most expensive state as well...
