Have you ever been scammed by someone? Have you ever been cheated out by someone?

How much money did you lose?

Nope, sorry, nothing big ever happened to me.

My friend lost $2,000 from one of those paypal scams in her email. Never got it back. $2000 was taken out of her banking acount connected with her paypal acount and send to some acount in turkey I think

No, never. I don't play betting games, I don't buy lottery tickets. I just rely on my self and my work. Cannoto have miracles in this way, but at least I am not that easy to scam

When I was 18 I lost $800 to a former friend with a forged check scam he did on me. He stole a check, wrote it to himself, then signed it over to me as a third party check. By the time the bank figured it out he was gone.

Wow.. so he's wanted now.

I have never been scammed before, maybe a couple people tried but I didn't fall for it, or maybe I had no clue they were trying to scam me. I have been cheated out once, a "new" hosting company that had pretty good deals (giving 25k mb) and they had everything planned out. Well, I designed 2 templates for them and they promised $90. I still do not have the money.

This is what I wrote to them on their comments of their updates on their website called TronicStar.com.

"Machinedog, I cannot believe you are doing this. This is incredibly selfish and I did not expect this from you. I've known you ever since we met in "that" forum. I can not believe this is happening. You have taken them and you said "that looks great, thats good enough, we'll take it" for both templates, and please do not lie that you didn't. I know for a fact that you used the hosting template because I saw it in use for a couple weeks. Please just give me my money and lets give this a rest. How can you say that I shouldn't get paid, atleast be true to me, your long friend. You ignored me on AIM and blocked me also. I messaged you and you just signed off *blocked* Please, just give me $90 and we will be done with this. And your friend/ business partner pormised me the money by Sept. of 2005 and no later. "

They deny everything right here:
http://tronicstar.com/index.php?suba...art_from=&ucat=&

There is a whole conversation right there, I am very disappointed. This guy was a friend from 2 years ago I met online, we even started our own website called Sight2Dream.com, it's all over, sadly.

Losing money is cost of doing business, also cost of acquiring experience. You always learn somehow from your mistakes, so its never a pure loss.

Woah woah woah, Hold on igOR. Was just looking around when I found this. We had asked you to try and make some templates for us, and we did NOT like them so we decided not to use them. And we told you that, that's why we aren't paying you. Not to mention we ended up not having enough money to pay you in the first place. Second of all, you could just sell them yourself, but I doubt you're going to get 90 bucks for them. :/ Oh and Hi brandon, if that is you. Long time no see. And our host also never even got started. :/

Excuse me. You and your partner said "o.. i wont have the money for you, but I will definatly have it by September (2005)" You promised the money, and you did take both of the templates, you never said you didn't like the templates, you just took them, you never said you didn't want them, all you said was "send them through AIM" and I sent them to you. You never said you didn't like them and you werent taking them, until now, when your hosting never got off the ground and you don't have anymore money.

Well almost $60.

Story was as follows: I put one of my domains for sale and a guy reacted for $1600. In his second mail he told me I needed to sign up for a certain webservice which would evaluate my domainname.
I was greedy and thought 1600-60 = $1540 would be a nice profit. But when surfing a couple of webmaster forums I saw this was a scam.

Ouch. You should of just said to him "How about you pay for it, and I will deduct $60 from the payment you will send me"

I would of contacted the authorities and get their website shut down if he was affiliated with them or owned the site.

It's just shark business, i dont think its worse than going after clients by spamming the whole world. Some people would do everything to advertise their business, especially by misleading their potential clients.

Its not really illegal and it was only 60 dollars. I got scammed so many times for that kind of money, hopefully i always move on, cause its frequent

It turns out the scam was well known at all the webmaster forums. Came across a couple posts.

Scam was the same he (or they) just use another name. Will try to come up with the examples

I had a friend who bought a website. She ended up only getting the domain name and that was it. SHe was scammed out of 4k. I guess the same person scammed someone else out of 10k for a website....

I got scammed once with a guy promising cheap scripts, well it turned out that they were nulled and were warez released and I was scammed for $19. And I had to pay a fine of $30, for having that script on the server. Next time, I am buying directly from the website.
