$1000 to Invest.

Lets pretend that you have a website and you have recieved $1000 to invest in your website somehow, to benefit it. Post what you would do with the money here.

For me:

$150 - go to buying some high PR links
$400 - PPC campaign or related
$250 - New website design/logo
$50 - Conduct a survey, asking users what thwey think about the site
$50 - Pay someone to rite a press release for the site
$100 - A contest or something to have this money go back to the visitors of the site. Maybe a giveaway.

What would you do with the money?

If I had to spend it on my site (ie. not buying another site), I would spend it on some high PR, high traffic links.

All $1000 of it? I wouldent do that, only because your money would go down the drain fast. And the links probably woulden't be permanent either.

Mine would be

1) $500 hire a PR professional with contacts at magazines who would write about my website, and have them send press releases and follow up with phone calls.
2) $500 come up with a clever contest and promote it in message boards. Make the contest based on positive participation in your site.

I've found that PR links are not worth paying for, rather, over time, if you do a good site high PR sites will link for free, or you can raise your PR high enough that they will be willing to trade. Google Adwords just to get traffic really isn't worth it if you don't have a high margin item to sell.

After trying just about everything, one good article somewhere is worth its weight in gold. My ad industry site exploded after it was featured in the Wall Street Journal.

Only to advertising. I can do the designs myself, and the content and everything. But some advertising would be nice for my babies :D

Only focus on traffic and post ads on your site, ads will get you your money back.

$50 on a general design to use on all of the sites
and $700 to indians to populate all of the sites with content

No Way... Indians... Alot of poor english content... What I would do is make the site: "Free" because thats what I do... $700.00 on not purchasing myspace accounts but purchasing "bulletins" on their accounts... You will generate alot of hits... and $30.00 on a good server. and the rest on a good contest!
