Default Have you ever had to give a client a refund?

Has there ever been a situation where you had to refund a client's money? If so, was it just an early deposit or near the end of the project?

The reason I asked, I almost had to give one because another client was taking too long to make decisions and made a project last about 5 times longer than it should have so I had to keep putting off my next client's site until I could get things wrapped up with the first one.

Client was too bossy and couldn't make up his mind, so I gave up and gave him a refund.

This is where the beauty of contract comes in , even if its just in email. Ask for clear time length and tell them clear situations under which refund will be made.

Also, if they take longer than charge them more. and if i take longer i give them discount (just did it, because i was busy and was over limit).

Put every thing in PDF. Email it to client and ask them to reply to same email and keep it for record.

Always take advance, whether client likes it or not. I do. If client doesn't want it then their choice. i don twant to be stuck in the middle. Its better to have one good client, rather than 5 bad ones.

And, if you told client you would refund, and dint give clear terms, then you should give refund. It might be loss to you, but for next time take care. remember one bad client might take away 10 client with her.
