Anyone do design or development full-time? Anyone planning to get there? Anyone even believe it's possible, these days? Love to hear your thoughts on this!

I only do it part-time right now but my future plans are to go full time and open my own business. I am currently working on an Associates in Applied Business that combines programming and dev with business administration and marketing. I am hoping that combined with my work experience will put me on top...somewhere. |

I'm not sure whether I'll be able to do it full time. I'm trying to learn more at the moment, so I'm waiting a bit before seriously getting into it. Anyway, web design and/or web programming isn't my career of choice. I'm actually aiming to get a biochemistry degree at the moment. (However, that's still in a very risky phase.) And, I try to somehow connect my interests and knowledge in the best way possible.

Well if you charge more than normal.. like $2000+ per client, It would be good I think.. but I don't know who would pay for stuff that high.

I am only a part time designer now, so far, not too much money. I've stopped for a bit now. Just got an offer to redesign RAPBATTLES.com |

No problem, the main reason for pointing it out is just that the person you quoted hasn't been around for a very long time. We all forget to look at the dates of the posts sometimes, its all good.

depends if you have the quality and the name. Those 2 things will be your headway. I personally wouldn't make it a living, too rough nowdays.

I am going to be headed that way soon. But my husband bring home the bacon so really I can afford to have bad months since anything I bring home is extra.
But if it were not for him there is probably no way I could ever get started on my own.

I, like a few others, design as a hobby and I'm not planning to go into it. I think webdesigning is very risky, since there are so many people out there looking towards that (especially in Asia). Thus, I'm going more into the biochemistry field.
