Default Budgeting.

Get started by making a list of your monthly expenses. Stuff like your rent, car, etc. Then make a list of your monthly income. Add up your pay stubs or however you get paid. Make a list of all, or as much, of your expenses. This will be difficult because you may have some hidden expenses that you don't realize exist. Just make a basic list though of whatever you can come up with. Now, match all your revenues for one month against all your expenses. By matching these, you will be able to see if your monthly expenses exceed your monthly income. Next you want to establish estimates for monthly expenses. If you see that one of your expenses takes more money than all the rest, try breaking it down or simply cut it out if it's not neccesary. Keep track of all your actual expenses. Soda, lunch, movies, etc. Just keep doing this each month and you'll realize how much money each thing takes and you'll eventually learn and break down each expense so that you'll soon be able to live "comfortable" and not just "get by". No one wants that.

cool info,

we are doing that for a few mounths now.

but every time we think we have space, something happens.
like dental bills or hospital bills.

the thing i would advice as extra.

is to add ten percent on the expense side.
if you dont have to spend that money put it aside.

my brother i law id doing that for a few years now.
it works fine, iff you dont get a lot of extra bills

I always use a spreadsheet to keep hold of my budget. I keep all the expenditure in one column and income in another. As the month goes on I convert budget to actual as they come out of my account - it works.

It's hard for me to budget too. I am a spender not a saver. So, I'm trying to use Excel to record all my earnings and expenses.

Is there a free software for budgeting?

Not sure if there's a free software. I'd search but I'm tired. lol

I'm a penny pincher so it's quite easy for me to budget.

I tried all the free budgeting software at download.com. I didn't find a good one.

I think I'll just stick with Excel for a while.
