Default Phone support vs. Live Chat

I was just wondering about this the other day.

What are your opinions on websites that offer live chat only compared to those that offer toll free phone support, both 24/7?

In short, which would you prefer to use?

Well, of course I prefer sites that offer both....it's nicer if you have options on how you would like to contact them....

Live chat and phone support can be a great help for those who wants to inquire online (if you have internet and computer) and to those who has phone. For me , it is better to inquire to phone support because you can ask questions about the specific products and services you want to buy.

i prefer both because i think there's no difference as long as they provide quality technical support

LIke everyone says, it would be perfect if the company can provide all avenues of communication for customers. However, depending on how live chat is incorporated in the website it usually isn't as reliable as phone support. Most companies already have leased call centers long before they have added live chat in their customer services list. Phone support is really basic and more personal.
