Post DNLodge Browser Compatibility

Hi All,

Since the recent change of ownership of the Lodge, there have been many things rolled out in a short period of time. Initially, we wanted to ensure the "loose ends" were being tied and we have been working feverishly to fix all the little bugs and glitches that we could find.

For the most part, if you are using FireFox web browser, everything works and looks as it should.

The following is a list of areas we are aware need attention. The overall goal is to have 100% compatibility with all of the major web browsers.

  • Firefox - No Known Issues
  • IE (6,7) - Known issue with the Icons/text alignment in the "Tools" and "Content" area. We were able to make this look a lot better then what it was but there is still some white space we can't seem to get rid of.
  • Safari - Probably the most difficult browser to attain full functionality.
  1. The header (only on the forums page) does not display correctly.
  2. The footer (only on the forums page) does not display correctly.
  3. *Slight* spacing issues in the icons/text in the "Tools" and "Content" area. May be related to the IE issue.
  • Google Chrome - Almost identical to the issues with Safari.
  • Opera - The strangest issues.
  1. Login Bar on the CMS interface (dnlodge.com) floats to the bottom of the page.
  2. Similar issues with spacing on the "Tools" and "Content" pages.
I'm pretty sure I missed some, and I have really tried to figure out the best way to find a simple medium on the browsers.

Another reason for this post is to reach out and ask all of you if you have similar issues or new issues not described here. Additionally, any advice (Especially for Safari/Mac users) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for any feedback!

Chrome just doesn't display the site properly, only the forums.

If you could fix that I'd be more then happy ^^

Yeah, it's the same issue with Safari. Apparently they don't like the <ol> (ordered list) code I use. I'm working on that, as this is definitely the ugliest compatibility issue of them all.

1.3% of DNLodge users are on Safari. I bet a lot of that percentage is me testing it out myself. Only 4% are on Macs. I just wasn't sure if it was really a top priority but with the addition of Chrome, I have to rethink my strategy.

It's hard to find a programmer that knows too much about Safari. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for the feedback.

As an update, Safari/Chrome issues have been resolved! The DNL website should display correctly on most browsers at this point. Please feel free to add any issues or incompatibility problems to this thread.

Thanks!
