True, in some locations ppl may like the price but these days you can usually get dsl or cable for a few dollars more than AOL or MSN sell their dialup.
LIKING dialup is about the same as liking to have your teeth pulled.

i hate the speed of dialup, but you should also look at the technology aspects of a modem. A modem is short for modulator/demodulator, and uses a base frequency on an analog line to convert signals to digital. No modem - no dsl, or other projects that sprouted from it

when info travels over a phone line, it travels in an analog frequency, which a computer cant read. A modem changes analog signals to digital and vice-versa, hence modulator/demodulator

Well, I like it. If it wasn't for it I would have waited for 3 years till starting web design. Fortunatelly I was able to use it, even if it's working as a snail. Now I have a good line and dial up is just a memory |

i have to use dsl, where i promote music i need to send mp3 files, and heavy size hings so dial up was bad for me, when internet came out dial up was the best there was iuntill broadband came out, i do notice since i moved to america the broadband is like 5X faster then broadband in the uk, it takes roughly 2 minutes to download a 10MB file, it is very fast, quest is the best broadband internet service in MN (USA)
