if you are into free blogging software, this is really one good way to start. i have made my experimental blog here and it really had this very organized dashboard which is most helpful for beginners. templates are already available and you wouldn't have to worry about layouts and just write away to your fancy!

I have to agree, this is one of the best things out. I have used it and still do on a personal site of mine.

Word Press seems to be used on sites around the world from starters to experts.. someone has a word press "Blog". The best part is, so many ways to change it.. from skins to addons and etc.

Its widely used, well supported...and one of the largest security risks in existence. CSS attacks happen frequently, and the sheer number of blogs make it impossible for all of them to be patched in time. They get spammed reguallarily, and theres many bots that just keep doing it. But, besides for that, its a greate program, and the security issues are issues of little children gone cracker, not the programmers.

I havent used WordPress myself yet but I have seen a lot of websites using them for thier blogs and such. So im going to guess that its quite well known and used.

I've used Wordpress in the past and I recommend it. Wordpress has a lot of features (lots of plugins!) and it's very easy to customize. Everything is run off the mySQL database, too, so no uploading lots of pages, etc. (But, would that make the website more vulnerable?)

No MySQL is quite secure and its better to have a database written website then having to make and upload a new page every time you post a new blog page and then have to update pages etc. Imagine the time you would need to do it all without that.

-free, you can start it on WordPress but also on many other free hostings , you only need to register

-arrange posts within categories
-open many blogs from your original WP blog site
-install it on your Webhost if you have Fantastico script installer. I heard that this is the top solution (regarding indexing in Goohgle), if you are using your own domain.
-there are many WP plugins available
- import/export posts from/on other blogs.
