Last.fm is an Internet radio station and music recommendation system that merged with sister site Audioscrobbler in August 2005. The system builds a detailed profile of each user's musical taste, comprising the songs played on its stations selected via a collaborative filter, or optionally, recorded by a Last.fm plugin installed into its users' music playing application. The profile is visible on a customizable web page, enhanced by limited social networking features, and can recommend and play artists similar to the user's favourites.

I think my brother signed-up a year ago so I'm familiar with it. I don't have my own account though. I don't think I'll ever sign-up.

lol Completely agree.^ I've now grown to hate Last.fm because of this. It's becoming what "emo" was. Very annoying.

Way to go back on topic. And I couldn't agree more.

Every person gets their own profile page, with listening charts for overall and last week. Can point you to people with similar tastes to you. By going to their profiles, you can find similar music.
System creates personal music recommandations every week, based on what you listened to last week. Because we have popularity data, can filter the recommendations from most popular to most obscure.

They seem better than MySpace.
