Default How can I assure customers that our site is secure?

When a customer questions whether or not our site is secure, is there some certificate/statement that I could E-mail to assure them? Should I have a statement on our site? This happens about 2-3x per week and I used to think the padlock in the lower right-hand corner indicated a secure site--am I wrong?

What do other websites do when this issue arises? I always assure the customer that the site is secure--but they don't seem satisfied. Thanks in advance for any help in this regard.

I went to Siteworx to see if I could find something and I found a SSL certificate--is that it?

What do you mean by secure? Secure of your site data? There are lot of companies uses SSL (Secure Sockets Layer). The SSL is a commonly-used protocol for managing the security of a message transmission on the Internet.

For more info about SSL, visit the site below.

Agreed. I think for the most part, a user will look for some type of security authentication image as well.

As stated already you would want to get an ssl certificate. The way your site looks also plays a big role in convincing people that you are reputable.

When buying a product customer always look for SSL. Because they want that the confidential information they entered are protected especially if it is a credit card. IF the site is secured you can see a key. SSL uses a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data − a public key known to everyone and a private or secret key known only to the recipient of the message.

There are online sites that sell ssl certificate for a reasonable price. Search it in google and try to compare first their price before your buy.

The SSL padlock once you click it, you'll immediately determine if the site is secure.

Using SSL together with S-HTTP (Secure HTTP) might be a help.
S-HTTP is designed to transmit individual messages securely. They work complementary so if used together, unbreakable site may be produced.
