Good site topic.

I want to make a new site but I don't know what kind to make. Social networking sites and general or off-topic sites are obviously out of the question. They are way too saturated. I was thinking of maybe doing a site or forum on smoking. Do you think it's a good topic? I don't think a lot of these sites are out there. There's still room for some competition. Is it a good idea? If not, what are some good topics?

I think that could become a popular site, if you are somehow able to target the right audience. Otherwise, it'll take forever to build up. Maybe offer some things to help stop smoking, etc. if you're going with that idea.

Well, there's a ton of websites that's against smoking out there. So, if you're for smoking...I don't know how you'll fare against those bigger websites against it.

Wow this could turn into a nice debate.
pro smoking; kill us and mutate our children with 2nd hand smoke and genetic mutations, poverty, smell horible, lose society support ( Unless your from LA lol ) ...
anti-smoking; Live longer, keep our children alive and healty ( better chance anyways ), more money for food and misc, smell better, more social respect

Ok, i'm not stupid enough to smoke by kids. Of course the site would be 18 and over since it's American and it'd be illegal otherwise.

people seem to forget that it is a kind of drug.

it isnt easy to stop believe me.

it is doing a lot of things in the body of a smoker, and yes also people in the car smoke with the smoker.

I would quit if I could but i've been smoking two packs a day for almost 10 years. It's never too late but it's too hard.

It IS a drug. It has 175 known and proven cancer causing agents, 2 chemicals used in the making of chrystal meth, tar, and in total about 5000 chemicals, half of which you can find under your sink. Smokings a big thing for me, so sorry if im being frank. Your Killing yourself. Your estimated to die 26 years early and have a 80% higher chance of contracting a deady desease.
As both a member of the Liberal gorvernment and an active exposé member, all I can recommend for you is to see you doctor, a councillor, and start using Nicotine gum instead of smoking. 83% of all people who stay on a dedicated no-smoking plan for 1 week end up quiting the addiction all together.

I know a lot of people who are smokers and the reason they begin is peer pressure. I dont smoke myself but after watching some people I know it must be hard to quit but its not impossible. People put into thier minds that its hard/impossible to quite which is usually the number 1 reason they cant quit.

@Jerlene: Did you think it will be a site, a forum , a blog? Wil you accept anti-smokers (like me) :D. You can expect many wars if it will be a forum. You see this particular thread? And we seems to be nice people here. You'll got offers from cigarette companies to advertise...and from others...
-my neighbour (smoker) got heart attack becouse od atherosclerosis of coronar artheries. He quit smoking immediately, I couldn't believe it.
-my grandfather was smoking from 16 to 86 (40 c./day). He died from some other diseade.
- I tried at ten. My mate said to me: Hey, this is nothing, you have to inhall...I did. Must say that I didn't become a smoking-fan after that.
- I lied in the hospital beside the man, caughing all the night - died a month after from dmaged lings.
- My business partner fainted a week ago without a reason. I guess it was a slight brain infarct. He smokes all the time.

I have some unhealthy habits, I don't advertise them.
