Default Somebody help me please!

I have only been on the boards for 2 months now. Before that I was litterally cold calling people, getting to who was in charge or ran their internet marketing, and selling them domains.
However since I have been posting in the forums, all I see is $10, $15, $25 transactions, and it's most of the offers I've been getting.

I don't have any new domains. They are all at least 3 years old. When people were registering plain english. They are all from portfolio holders that have been around since before Pentium, when Married with Children was a #1 show and Fox had just cancelled the Tracy Ulman Show, but picked up The Simpsons. (If I have just lost everyone, I see the problem)

Can someone please explain to me how anyone makes any money on the boards selling $15 domains? What's the point?

How can a domain like 10gen.com or one of the rare dictionary terms sell for $500 - $5k, on Sedo, and Afternic. Even Ebay, (which I now have 5 Domains on). But put that same domain on a forum and you get 20 responses for
$15 epass
$20 paypal

Have I come to the wrong place to do business, and make contacts?
Is this not where the Industry meets?
How can so many people in the same industry have no valuations skills for what a Domain is worth?

Why are so many people hanging around for cheap domains, and then selling the same ones in a month or two for the same price?
Do I have to go away from here to make some real contacts?
Are the forums full of people hoping to find a gem from a newbie and turn around and sell it for a million bucks?

Do people still think that thats going to happen?

Last week I posted on a forum of professionals in a certain industry, where they do not have a market place for domains or websites, posted 8 domains on sun. and got 6 emails that night asking about them, sold one on Mon. for $1,000. No problem. Paypal in 20 mins.

Am I in the wrong place? Not just this forum, but all of them.

I could put up cars.com and people woyuld still respond with $15 epass.

Or is it that no one on the boards are serious and I'm wating my time.

I think the problem your facing is people come to forums and boards to find deals NOT $500 or $1K domain names, that is what afternic and the like are for and yes i would say even ebay would be a better channel

people here want deals. I bought a domain for $25 a few months ago and it was worth more than that but the user wanted to get rid of it. I've since made my money back on it and then some.

that is why people post here to find deals and sometimes give deals to others.

I think that's a good reply. could be the case of barking at the wrong tree.

forums are like a market place where you want to look for the best deals, contrary to auction sites where you bid and go for the highest price. or am I making sense? :p
