Does anyone use this service?

I think namecheap offers it, and godaddy offers a similiar service. It basically blocks your personal whois contact information from other people to lookup.

So hwo many people use this or pay extra for it?

Yea, namecheap only offers it free for one year, so yea I use it initially on my domains, but I don't plan on renewing the service.

Everyone offers it. 1&1 offers it for free but I don't really recommend going with them. I like NameCheap. They offer it free and I'd recommend going with them. Although their prices are pretty extravagant.

Namecheap offers it for free so I use it.

I never purchase NameGuard from Godaddy or Yahoo. I don't have anything to hide.

I have it from Namecheap free for the first year too, I don't intend to renew it.

I dont use WhoisGuard even it is free because it hides your information and a potential buyer of your domain may find it difficult to reach you.

I would never buy it but NameCheap gives it for free which is very nice.

Yea, but as M Nabil said, it's only the 1st year that it's free. I have domains that are expiring and I don't plan on renewing the whoisgaurds that go with the domain. It doesn't make a huge difference to me.

There's so much info about me available on the net it's not even funny so I don't even bother really. Plus it's great for people to be able to just phone you up. Oh how I love the internet.
