The problem with focusing on the top paying words is that everyone is doing it, so you'll have to compete against many, many websites. I've been finding that using popular searches (not necessarily top paying) works a bit better for me. Less people are focusing on those searches so the competion is minimal.
Personally, I'd rather compete against 100 other site owners for 30 search terms a day that pay $0.25 per click than against thousands of site owners for a term that pays $50 because my chances to earn something are better.

SEO dosn't have anything to do with that ads adsense will put on your website, sorry to say. But Chris is right. Just because the top bid for a keyword is $100, dosn't mean that $100 ad will neccessarily be placed on your website.

Your site logs will also reveal some very interesting combinations. I get some doozies...and probably no competition on 'em.

You can build multiple websites based on the highest paying keywords with HyperVRE. This sofware adds your Adsense ID, ClickBank ID, Amazon ID, PayDotCom ID and can promote any other affiliate program you wish. Best part, the software is free!
My Signature has the link to a review AND a test site I created using the term "affiliate."

I've heard Casino is a good keyword. A lot of people are targeting it.
I don't know why people would pay $100 for a click though?? It seems crazy when others are paying $0.25 for a click!

Well, the marked decides, its capitalism on its best. If you know for shure that you can get visitors to a site that have to fight with black hat sites with 10000s of links, go ahead with the expensive keywords.

If your clicks come from outside the US, UK, they don't still cost much.

The problem with developing a site that targets high-paying keywords is that you'll also have a hard time promoting it. You'll have to spend money to bring traffic to the site and not all visitors will end up clicking on ads on your site.
One possible way to make money from high paying keywords is to register domain name containing them and park it on places like namedrive and sedo. You might be able to make some $ from clicks generated through the page, not to mention profit from the sale of your domain.

and usally the reason thay are so high is not a lot of people click on them | |
