I make 3-10 cents/click average. There was once time, my best click earned me ~$2.
The best way to increase adsense revenue is to increase your site traffics not CPC.

The keywords clicks costs are sometimes related to the websites business status, for example when there is a heat on the web about shopping centers, the related terms might be more expensive.

It is low because it depends on how the users visit your site or what we called page impression .

Other factors include, placement of ad, if your ad is located toward or in your header, the more its worth.

Also, your CTR (click through rate). its better to have 10 ppl click 5 ads than 1000 ppl click 5 ads.

To add to that, it's better when you have a good click and impression ratio.

If you have 5 impressions, and 40 clicks you will almost be guaranteed to get banned from AdSense.

A much better ratio is around 100 impressions and 5 clicks. With that method, and the keyword "Web Marketing" I made $39.00 in one day.
