Are SEO Forums Still Needed?

i agree that some of the knowledge SEO professionals have came from forums but as time goes, these forums where nothing as a link field wherein SEO professionals can seed their links, and some of the information and techniques isn't shared anymore as they protect it as if it was a secret

yeah, but this forum can still be a source for sites like directories, ads, and more. also, seo forums provide some help for beginners and sometimes some secrets as well. one more thing that I enjoy in forums is that you can have fun with the members, chat with them..

I believe they still are great and useful. On all of the major SEO forums, you can find experienced webmasters who are happy to answer other people's questions.

other SEO topics or subjects are explained well in some forums and can be understand with ease but you still need to check if the informations given by some members are truth or fiction

Alex27 it is true, and i can account it through a friend who did nothing but to post in forums. she didn't do any seo in there and guess what, she did rank and she got a whooping PR 2

There are some new techniques in seo that you might not know yet and you only heard this in forums. So forums are still useful.

I think there is always a need, no matter what the profession, to have a place where you can get new ideas, talk about your ideas, and generally learn from others that are in the same field.

SEO forum serves a great purpose for the beginner. Threads are often started with a question and the beginner can often get good opinions from experienced people.
For me, the forums replace a chance to just talk about the topic with colleagues. It could be discussing the latest Google quirks, tactics or just bouncing off ideas and approaches.

^^ yes and SEO forums doesn't just focus on SEO only, there are also other topics that can help out. It may also be related in SEO. And the good thing about this is that the ideas or knowledge you would gain are from beginners to experts, and you get it for free.
