| | Best alternative to Norton
I have been finding that Norton has just been a major problem on my computer. The firewall blocks program downloads and updates and keeps them from working properly.
Anyways, what do you consider to be the best alternative to Norton antivirus and firewall? Have you worked with others? Which ones do you like? Which ones do you hate?
My subscription will be up soon and I really want something that offers top-notch protection without being so obtrusive.

I've used McAfee before but it just eats up your resources and, for some reason, breaks networked internet connections.

I am using AVG for 2 years now. and Kerio free edition as the firewall. I am totally against Norton after having issues and it not being able to solve them. So far AVG never let me down.

AVG? I've never heard of them.. I'll have to do a search and see what I can find out about them.

Go for Nod32, my personal favorite. Give it a try, you won't look back!

Keaspersky = best virus detection
Nod 32 = good virus detection + low resource usage
The two are the best antiviruses out there if you ask me.

You simply can't touch Kaspersky Lab. Kav for winworkstations is radically better than anything on the market.
Nod is ok, I use avast free home edition for clients with slow computers from time to time. It's an ok solution but lets some stuff slip through the mail filter from time to time.

Trend Micro PC-cillin 2007 is quite good, or AVG if you prefer free ones. |
