Firefox is my default browser but I do use IE and Google Chrome too. What I haven't tried using is AskJeeves.

Lynx is a text-based browser available for *NIX and (I believe) there's a windows port.
I've used Safari (Win/Mac), FF, IE, Opera, Dillio...ect...

For what you need it for, like a very small portable GUI browser, Dillio wins hands down.
At the same time, I don't think anything compares to Lynx for text-based browsing.
For a user-friendly, feature filled browser, I'd go with Firefox hands down.
