So, we're finally moving out of the 90s and getting cable internet. I just have one question, my bedroom is upstairs, and the modem is going to be downstairs, would it be best to run a cable upstairs or get a wireless router, which leads to the second half of my question how much will be affected by using a router, there is a lot of wallspace between my room and the place where the router would be. and if I run a cable, how long can a cable be?

Buy the cable. that would be more safe. Have you tried using broad bands?

I would use cable, just because it is more reliable than wireless for desktop computers. If you have any laptops get a router and use that. It will work fine in a normal size house.

We have a 2 story house and use wireless routers for our laptops downstairs. Our main desktop computer is upstairs. We have noticed some lag on the laptops when downloading but most of the time it works out great.
