I didn't know CS2 had been released yet! Adobe were only announcing it's new features-to-be a month or so ago! Doesn't time fly.

well... to be honest I was much more used to 7... so really I liked 7 better... but i'm not completely used to CS2 yet. only real features that 7 doesn't have though... font preview in the font drop down box... I'm not thinking of anything else off the top of my head... it's really not a whole lot different.

I've found that it acts differently in doing different things though. For instance using the marquee tools to remove areas of color or whatever tend to want to feature the edges of the removed area... not sure why that is. Haven't figured that out yet... but it drives me nuts. lol

I really don't find that it's a whole lot different though

I'm using CS. I have got GIMP too though, and it can do everything that Photoshop does, and is produced under GU licence, so definitely worth having a look at anyone thinking of it. Guess I am just too used to Photoshop though

while we are at it... I"m trying to buy photoshop but I dont know the cheapest/safest place to buy it. I'm looking at costco.com or ebay. If someone on ebay has 100% rep, do you think its safe to buy it from them? I understand the risk of a cracked version.

can't say I have ever bought anything off ebay. It has just never appealed to me.

Why not try GIMP? 100% free, and is just as powerful?

Thanks!

I think GIMP is fairly new on the market, but could be wrong. People don't buy photoshop generally, do they? Except for businesses? And even then, it is the name they are buying, not the product. If you said to a company, we should get GIMP, they would most likely be like, we have to pay for Photoshop, it must be better.

The thing I find with GIMP is that your desktop is your working space. I think that is something like macs, but I'm a windows boy, so like to have everything contained by the program... it is good though.

I reckon the biggest reason why I use ps over GIMP, is because I am used to PS, and know what I am doing. As a tool, I was really impressed by GIMP though.

Well either people are using cracks/hacks or alot of people buy photoshop. I will really be looking into this GIMP program and trying it out. Thanks for the heads up!
