I adviced always Fireworks as your main design program.
Its clear and works in collaboration with dreamweaver.
That alone is a huge advantage, specialy when you wish to have more simplisity in handeling your project.

I have a question! Say I want to find the exact slicing point of an a part of a full image. How do you go about doing this?

What advantages would Fireworks offer to someone who has Illustrator already. I don't speak to flame, but I'm thinking of getting flash and, since I'm elligable for Student and Teacher edition, wonder if I should get the whole of studio 8 with it.

Adobe photoshop series works the same,, but Fireworks do have more definite capacity to make your design more graphical..
