Just curious, how many of you have a MySpace website?
I have yet to see a website on there that I would say looked good. What are your thoughts on the websites you have seen?

I have one but it looks terrible. The problem about MySpace is that the profiles are not 100% customizable and if it is, its not simple to do. They should make it easier to change everything.

I hate browsing MySpace because almost every site you visit, hijacks your media player and plays some song, most times, heavy metal.
I hate websites that hijack my media player, or resize my window.

I have a myspace, but I haven't done a whole lot to mess with the appearance because it's....not as simple as it should be. And you're right, most tend to look like poo.

I had one but I sold it. It's way to saturated.

I wonder what they have for a server, for the traffic they get daily, it must use quite a bit of bandwidth.

Well like I said, it's saturated so a lot of those type of sites don't get any attention. But yah, a lot of people get rid of their site because it costs too much to maintain monthly.

Newbie in space here
So, what is MySpace all about?
1. Do I need my own website?
2. What is purpose of having MySpace
3. Earning opportunities?
I even won a MySpace script, now I don't know what to do with it. Are all Myspace scripts paid ones?

I have one as well, but customizing it is really difficult. I hate browsing other people's myspaces especially when they have music (on auto start) and when the colors and background clashes.

Myspace is all in Cold Fusion...and for some reason I believe it runs on IIS.
They are hosted by savvis (sp?) datacenters (at least partly)
There is an option to run off the music automatically playing, btw. I just discovered it recently but I use myspace fairly regularly to keep in touch with friends.
There are a few really good looking myspace pages actually.

I have myspace, but I don't really like it. I only got it just to get on the train wagon with my cousins, who are too addicted to it. Personally, I think it's not that bad, better than Xanga at least. So I'm indifferent.

The only way I am aware of to make a professional my space layout is to watch your color scheme from the get go... you have to keep things as simple as possible or you will wind up with something that looks like it was designed by an angst ridden teenager....
I am going to use something from here or the editor and see what I come up with... http://www.killerkiwi.net/ it took my days to track this down.
Here are some others that are a good starting point. http://www.ironspider.ca/adv/myspace.../2color_03.htm http://pearsestreet.typepad.com/prem...space_layouts/
hope that helps, looks like it will save me days...
