@ fire_lady: Can you say what kind of site do you intend to create? THere are som many opportunities, hard to answer what is good website building tutorial.

For extremely simple site, you can use WYSIVIG editor which is in-built on some free web hosting like: http://Freespaces.com You can build a site like you edit the forum post, you can edit text, insert links, images, tables.
Also most of serious webhosting provide you some kind of inbuilt site editor.

For detailed answer, tell what exactly are you planning...

modric, Im planning to build a simple portfolio site (programming and seo). I wanted to have a simple and attractive corporate site. at present I want to learn the basic to intermediate in web designing.
