Default Stop the Hate

Stop the hate of IE. IE has its downfalls, it isn't W3C compliant but it isn't always IE's fault your site doesnt render properly.

People are too quick to blame IE for bad coding.

Validate your coding: Validator

before jumping on IE.

But...come on Microsoft get with the times and comply with W3C.

I never hate on IE. IE is the only browser I use and love.

No, i've had code thats validated and looks great in FF and every other browser, but is broken in IE. It's a big pain. Why can't they jsut all parse the html ths same!

Yeah, a lot of the time, even if your code is validated, IE still manages to make everything look bad. Most of times, validations don't do anything with IE.

If you've validated then ya its IE's problem and they should get heat.

I find though that it could also be your CSS file that is causing the problem and not your markup.

Validate both and see what happens.

That's usually what I do though. IE has CSS problems in which it displays the wrong thing. For example, it doesn't read min-height, etc. properly (though, it's fixed in IE 7). So, you have to think of ways and perhaps use hacks to make an illusion of the min-height property.

Yeah, I use FF.... I like it because its a lot more simple than IE is, and I think its a lot more reliable. My IE used to crash randomly all the time, FF does it too but not nearly as much.

But yeah, a lot of the problems with peoples pages are just in the coding.

I hope IE7 redners to W3C rules, it would really get people to try IE again, at least coders, but I think Microsoft will have a challenge in getting people to switch from FF to IE again.

Im FF forever I think.

i've seen downfalls on both sides, i think maybe too strict rules (as long as W3C goes) can also cause problems. i'm not such a great html coder, but often times I've had times when the compliance would degrade my site in one way or another (ofcourse a good html coder would know how to fix that).

I dont find W3C too strict, but if you aren't familiar with code or have little experience with it, then it can be confusing as to what each error means.

Thats why we are here.
