Default Colors on the Web

Ok guys, I am sure there are threads like this all over the place but hey,
I like our forum and I like a lot of the sites our members have so I figured
I would ask the question here.

How do you choose the colors for your site? I know that in TV certain colors
are used to elicit certain responses etc. How does this translate to the web?

I know that colors along with your logo have a lot to do with your branding
so this is an important and often (at least by me) overlooked issue.

Thoughts? Opinions? Links?

Well I think that you need to pick colors based on the mood you want your visitors to have. There are a few sites out there that describe each color and what mood it brings with it. You want your visitors to enjoy your site but have some call to action colors like reds and oranges, but also provide some softer blues and dark greens. This is just my opinion

I'm really not too fond with really bright colors. For most times I can stand them, but I know that some people have very sensitive eyes. I don't really mind any colors as longs as it's not so bright or so dull. I like both dark and light colors and like you guys said it depends on the mood, theme, and related topics. People might find that pink might be relate to something girly (dolls websites, etc). I find that black and most dark colors are very soothing and easy to the eyes.
