Whats the optimal Page Width these days?

I heard about 800px, this right?

yes, but i prefer %. it makes it better looking on all kind of browser, and also % for font size. Image resizing with CSS also makes it better.

if % IS an option...I've always been a fan of 90 or 95%

oh yes, 100% wont look good, and same for fixed one, like Brandon said, 760 not 800

I usually do about 780 or 790 if % isn't going to work for a particular project for some reason.

Depends. I have some 800 width (790 to me more specific), but I also design for higher res (1000 width)

About half the time I decide to forget about the smaller screen resolution people and design for the bigger screens. I like 1000+ designing more.

Just to add to one of the previous posts, when using liquid layouts you don't have problems of that kind most of the time.

My only problem with building a liquid design is that I like to have more control of how the text looks on the page. High resolution+liquid design=the appearance of very little content. Low resolution+liquid design=the appearance of too much content and a lot of scrolling=no one bothers reading it all.

i use 800 px but that just cuz at least a quarter of the world still runs 800 x 600 screens
