Default What to charge?

What is a reasonable rate for a web designer to keep a site updated (e.g. adding new content, pages)? Do webmasters charge by the job? The hour? In 15 minutes increments?

Still wondering about this...

I dont think you can get a proper answer for that. Every job is different in a way.

Every project is different and so does every maintainance job. So, you have to see the marketing trend and the requirements and so on.

i mean if its one time a month job then it'd be something different a bit higher or a lump sum amount,,
and if its like every week or so then it might be a bit lower or per hour or so.

For me, I charge for the web site, itself, based on the amount of time I think the project is going to take but then switch to an hourly rate for continued site maintenance. I charge $30 an hour, which is probably a little below average but is probably the right rate based on my experience level. Once I have the experience and the resume to prove I've got what it takes, that rate would certainly need to go up.

I think most people that are new to freelance web design would be doing good to get $20 to 25 an hour but those who have been at it for a while can generally expect $100 an hour or more. Those experienced designers generally work faster, too.
