Lightbulb Designing and marketing a website

In the highly competitive internet market a complaint that is frequently heard is that of insufficient traffic. There can be several reasons for this but the primary fault probably lies in an inadequate Web Design and Internet Marketing technique. Only when a website is designed properly with excellent content and then marketed aggressively can you expect new visitors to come and old ones to return.
Web designing is the first phase of setting up a site. Once you have identified your target market and studied the feasibility of selling your services or products online it is time to start designing the web page. If you are setting up an online shop you need to begin with a user friendly, easy to navigate, uncluttered website. The flow of content should be from top left to bottom right. The content is vital and should be geared at making the visitor take some action and lead him towards the sales page. Studies have shown that users respond more to text than graphics so the power of words needs to be harnessed properly. Automate as many processes as you can. Incorporate good shopping cart software that calculates totals, shipping charges, sales tax and discounts. Allow several payment options like credit/debit cards, PayPal, cheques etc. Reward the shopper with points which he can collect and redeem whenever he shops at your site. This not only motivates the customer to buy more but also ensures repeat visits. Most importantly, highlight your privacy policy and protect customer confidentiality by installing security software.
Once the site is ready it is time to market it. Amongst the many ways of marketing web pages the popular ones are banner ads, affiliate marketing, SEO, pay per click programs, e-mail marketing. Banner ads are usually placed on other websites and use both text and images to attract attention, encouraging users to click on the ad and visit your website. In affiliate marketing an affiliate is rewarded by the merchant for directing traffic to his website. Payment is usually based on result. Search engine optimization entails giving your site high rankings and visibility on search engines with the help of keywords. For SEO to work for you your site has to be registered with the search engine company. Pay per click is a method of paid advertising in which you have to pay only when your advertisement is physically clicked upon. Google’s Adwords, Adbrite, BidVertiser are some popular PPC channels. For e-mail marketing you begin by harvesting email addresses from your customers at every opportunity and then sending email newsletters to them. These newsletters should bear some unique things of interest, promotional offers or product recommendations.

The link is not valid and I think it is the way of clicking the site as to received traffic. And the article on Web Design and Internet Marketing technique is useful and informative.
