I would say on general, Mac users are less than 10% of the population to most of the websites out there. Of them, maybe half are using Safari.

Demographically, Mac users "invest" in a computer are typically have a little more expendable income. Some sites that target these types of users more than likely ensure they have a website compatible with Safari.

Does anyone have any specific difficulties with this browser or any other browser for that matter?

honestly i don't usually use safari browser i use it only when comparing the sites.. for my work.. ( i mean the web site appearance ) ... i don't know either if safari offers ad ons... just like firefox.. but for me .. as a reference keeping safari will always has a spot

I think it largely depends on your niche. Of course they are important, but if you are doing a site about Windows XP, they will be less important than if you are doing a site about iPods. Learning your niche and the types of visitors you have is important. Much can be learned by using something like google analytics or even just looking through your server logs.
