Default Are you a DIY kind of person?

Hey

I'm curious how many people here are mroe of a DIY kind of person.

There are alot of people that have alot of money from ads and their sites, who just pay and hire people to do basic tasks for them, even little ones. I suppose if you have that kind of money, thats what you can expect.

But at this stage, I'm more of a DIY kind of person with my sites. I don't really like hiring people to do things that I could probably do fine myself.

I'm currently a do-it-yourself webmaster also. However in business, one can only do so much. The objective is to duplicate yourself. Obviously this is very hard to do but I often hire certain jobs out so I can spend more time on the things that I cannot hire people to do.

Webmastering is a business. It's fairly new for me but I've had other businesses and although this is entirely different, it still pays to hire certain things out. We can all sweep floors and mow lawns too but when our time is better spent on the computer we ought to hire those jobs out. Not only does it allow you to be more productive, but it also provides food for someone else.

Like I said, I'm a DIY in a lot of ways because it's very difficult in the webmaster business. Usually we start out as it's us against the world but in the long run, when it's possible, try to gather some associates that can assist. As you all know, it's impossible to know everything and keep up on every aspect of the web and maintaining our sites so a little help once and a while never hurts.

That's my opinion on it.

Very true tldagent.

But when I need something done that I don't think I can do as well as someone I can hire (and not spend alot of money) then i'll hire em'. But I like to do things myself if I can.

I am definitly a DIY kind of a guy, but that's more a $$$ issue I guess.

I mean when I have enough $$$ I think I would outsource some of the things, like error-handling (I hate that).
