Default Live Chat Successful?

Is it good to have some kind of shoutbox or livechat on your site?

What would you suggest if I wanted to do this?

Shoutbox are cool to have, if its a site that you think it would be good on, like not a web hosting site, thats for sure, lol.

Live chats are hard to keep active. I've seen sites with a minimum of 10k uniques a day have 1 or 2 people in the live chat. So its kinda so-so.

But it dosnt hurt to try it out and see what happens.

I've tried the one that comes with cpanel, and it's crap. I don't like how it works. Go with a better paid one.

I use www.tufat.com

it works for me, I modded it a lot to make it how I wanted it, I think it takes up a lot of BW tho, I think it refreshed every 3 seconds.

I wouldn't recommend them for new forums. It'll only be there to look pretty, taking up space. It's a different story once it's well established though. This is a question you should be asking your members really since they'll be the ones using it/not using it.
