On the thread that asks how many visitors web masters are getting per day, some web masters are reporting over 1000 visitors a day. I was wondering where all these visitors are coming from.

Are they from search engines?

Are they from buying ad words?

Are they from submitting your links to directories?

Are they from joining up with programs like link referral where people get traffic to their site from visiting your site? or paid traffic sites?

Are they from links on your profiles at lots of forums?

Are they from links on your signature from lots of forums?

Are they from writing articles with your link at the bottom that you've submitted to article sites?

Are they from joining link hubs?

Are they from starting blogs to promote your site?

Are they from making leader sites that point traffic to your site?

Are they from having 100's of pages on your site that show up as niches on search engines from key words on each page?

Are they from banner exchanges on your site?

Are they from buying ads to promote your site from ebay or bulletin boards?

Are they from putting a bumper sticker on your car with your site URL on it?

Are they from sending out an email to friends announcing your new site and asking they pass that on to others?

Are they from sending out newsletters every week to people who have signed up for that on your site?

Are they from adding a forum to your site?



Have you tried any of these things?

What have you found that works?

Do you know of any other ways of promoting trafic to you site that I haven't heard of yet?

I have done the emailing of friends and having them send it off to their contacts...that really worked well. I also added a forum to my site and purchased posts from forumelves.com. I have purchased ad words, done link directory, and I have a blog. I am not sure of any other ways, other than what you listed.
