The only one I've used in the past was phpnuke, a few years ago. Since then I haven't used one.
Would Sitepoint.com be called a CMS?

I was asking if that would be considered a CMS... Content Managment System. Of course the coding is custom, but I wasn't sure if it would be considered one or not..

I've used quite a few CMS's, the two that I liked most were PHP-Fusion and Joomla.
I'm using Joomla now and (after a while of.. hating.. it) - I'm starting to love it.
A great place to demo CMS's would be: OpenSourceCMS - Home

Would Sitepoint.com be called a CMS? | Yes, I'd consider it to be one. (And yes, custom).

Joomla would be my fav., though it is hard to learn, so just play around with it before putting something "Live".

My personal favorite is Xoops. I used Joomla before but I don't think it's for me.

What types of sites are CMS used for?
Because right now on my main site, taylorhewitt.com, I update the pages by hand and it's kind of annoying.

Most CMS systems are to bloody complicated. Especially that Joomla. They have so much time on their hands they keep adding feature after feature. If they just made what was there most efficient and user friendly it would be better.
Yes site point is a CMS, anything that manages content dynamically can be called a content management system. This is site is a content management system

I have to disagree with you tbobker. I'm relatively new to website building and I don't think Joomla is complicated at all. Actually, CMSes make my life easier - I don't have to construct pages, and I don't even have to know PHP.

I have tried a lot of CMS scripts.
My favorite is Word Press. (To me, I feel it is considered as CMS as you can easily use it as a CMS) Others are just too feature packed or too complicated.
My sites are still in development stage, so I prefer to use Word Press more than anything else.
