| | Awstats vs. Webalizer? Both giving very different results
Hi there.
I've found that awstats gives much different results than Webalizer. Which one would you assume would be closest to the actual number? I think it's crazy how these counters and statistic trackers can't do anything accurately.
Here is an image of the DN Lodge's report for April in both awstats and webalizer. http://www.dnlodge.com/Stats.PNG
What is your opinion?
Thanks,
Brandon

I think Awstats is more accurate.. than webalizer.. I've been using awstats for my sites for about a year now.. and I don't encounter any problem..

I would like to think that Awstats is more accurate just because I have never liked the reporting that is offered by Webalizer. I don't have proof, one way or the other, which one reads more accurately though.

lmao Seeing that, I wouldn't trust either one of those. ha
I use AWStats the majority of the time but I usually went to Webalizer for accuracy.

Our server admin is installing Urchin stats program on our server (which wasn't installed, although it was supposed to be included) so we'll see how that compares

Hopefully it does better because what you have now is ridiculous.

I like awstats but largely because its more visual. Urchin is where its at or simply use google analytics which is pretty much the same thing.

yeah, I have used them, but its not very practical for my forum as I don't really want to insert the code into the vbulletin templates.

I always check awstats. It don't know if it's accurate but I do know that it shows more details.

I think counters are best used for viewing trends.

| | Re: Awstats vs. Webalizer? Both giving very different results AWStats has url syntax rules for the most popular search engines (that's the 'number detected'). Those rules are updated with AWStats updates. But AWStats has also an algorithm to detect keywords of unknown search engines with unknown url syntax rules. Sawmill uses unique syntax to detect 67 search engines, and you can add any number of custom SE's. |

I have awstats offered in my web hosting. I also have stats counter that I have installed invisible to see who and where people are coming in from. Its a way to keep a small eye on whats going on.
