A website is every document published on the World Wide Web hosted on a domain accessible via http protocol from the web browser.
Usual HTML site - you can build it with site builders (NVU, Dreamveawer), from scratch in HTML or PHP or you can get some template.
Affiliate site either share the content of the "parent" site or resell goods or services of a merchant. Merchants often provides pre-made sites to its affiliates. Example: hosting reselling site.
Blog is to research a particular field and publish thoughts/news related to it and discuss them with commenters. Good blog covers one topic and provides indepth insight of it. Example:

Directory is to list websites. I guess directories will become less important soon since almost everyone has one and almost nobody reads them.
