Default IE, FF, Opera, Safari... my site looks different on all of them!!

I decided to make this thread after having a conversation with someone on AIM.

xxxxxxx (10:54:39 PM): One day, we'll know the answer to that question. But for now, life goes on with another great mystery gone unsolved.
Wouldn't it be so much easier if all browsers rendered the same? Can't there be some sort of browser standard for rendering?

Thousands of hours would be saved... and maybe even lives

Don't you think it's about time? What's your opinion?

I agree...It would be less time consuming if all browsers rendered all the same. I've experienced a situation before that when I see my blog on Firefox, I see my work just fine...But when I check it on E.I,the alignment and divisions of my it looks bad and some of the links and images are broken..

I agree it may be a little easier, but once you get a feel for the intricacies of each it can actually be quite easy to design a site that is cross-browser compatible. Firefox is generally the most W3C compliant browser, and you can write CSS code pretty easily that will display properly in the other browsers as well.

Its a good idea, but I don't know if the owners of the browsers would comply. They would all think that their way is better, and for that reason, they might not want to share with others.
